New Build

We can prepare rally cars from a bare shell either supplied by a customer or sourced by ourselves. The shell shown here was supplied by a customer and is being prepared to a very high specification.

A large gearbox tunnel and large diff tunnel have been fitted along with a specially fabricated centre section. You can see in the right hand picture that there is also a smaller tunnel running alongside the main tunnel for the exhaust to run through. There is an exhaust tunnel both sides of the main tunnel to allow fitment of any engine - some exhausts exit on the right hand side of the engine, some on the left.

The cage legs were all made 2-3 inches short so that the complete cage was sitting 2-3 inches down from the roof. This provides enough space to weld all the roof bar junctions round the top as well as underneath. The complete cage was then lifted up and box sections welded in underneath. If you ever see a weld-in cage without box sections at the bottom of the legs it is highly unlikely that the welds will have been completed round the top of the roof bars.

We added gussets between the cage and the A- and B-pillars. This adds great strength asnd can save the need for a re-shell in the case of a large accident. The gussets we added to a Mk1 Escort certainly helped maintain the overall shape of the shell. Click here to read more.

The cage was also extended at the front and welded to the strut top mounting.
We also welded the 4-link boxes to the cage.

We shall add more pictures as development proceeds on the car.
